This is probably the largest buck I have ever seen or photographed. He is truly in a class by himself. Few people get the chance to see, let alone photograph, deer like him. I followed this buck for 4 days as he lead me across valleys and through rocky outcroppings filled with buck brush. Each time I saw him I fired frame after frame of him, before he would disappear over the ridge following his does. When I find bucks like this I become insanely tenacious and persistent. I will follow them as long as it takes in order to get images of them. However, I am always aware of not pushing too hard. I use long lenses to keep my distance and not spook the deer. The added stress from chasing them can be detrimental to their surviving the long hard western winters. Something to keep in mind when you are chasing mule deer during the rut or on their winter range.
