With a spread over 36 inches wide, this 300 pound mule deer lived in and used the buck brush to make his escapes. I followed him for three days, sometimes only capturing glimpses of him as he disappeared into the pine trees or went over a distant ridge. Mature mule deer bucks have to be one of the smartest, hardest and most frustrating animals to photograph yet the reward of seeing a monster buck keeps me coming back each year.
