I called this buck Stanley. He actually lived near a subdivision called Stanley Heights (thus the name) during the rut and would show up each year around Thanksgiving time. I photographed Stanley over a three year period as he matured and his antler's widened and thickened. What a buck. Sadly, when elk were introduced to the area, Stanley Heights was over run with elk so the deer no longer winter there. Mule deer just cannot compete with their larger cousins.

I do now know what ever happened to Stanley. The last year I photographed him he was breeding does and posing for pictures. Hopefully, his offspring acquire his genetics and become monster bucks like he was.
